Thalgo was established in 1968 and since then Thalgo Skin Care products have become a well-known brand of cosmetics and has come to the forefront of Spa Therapy at an international level. The birth of Thalgo skin products stemmed from its research of marine algae and plant bases, which gave effective breakthroughs for skin treatment and substantiated the need for an independent skin care line of products.

The year 1999 saw new leadership in the form of Jean Claude Sirop who took over the leadership of Thalgo. While the research for newer forms of algae continued for their properties of rebalancing, protecting and nourishing, there was a breakthrough discovery and launch of the Serum d’Exception. This serum was lab tested and proven to stop the deterioration of support fibers in the skin, thus enabling them to produce more collagen and elastin. The serum was made by incorporating natural marine algae hormones. Another new algae was successfully used in launching the Impeccable Purity line of products in 2002. This line used the Criste Marine algae and was instantly welcomed by the market. Thalgo Skin Care also uses a unique manufacturing process which they have been careful to patent. It involves exploding the algae for their nutrients and it is highly effective in maintaining and boosting the potency of the proteins found inside. This procedure of extraction also results in obtaining the nutrients in the form of a very fine powder, which is easily absorbed by the skin to give much quicker results as compared to other products.
